I believe that the Middle East may become the new America where tech oligarchs colonize and escape from America like America escaped the UK. Old government has worn out and simply acts as a cage for the growing tech elites. America is a dumpster fire of guardrails and obsolete infrastructure.
First, Gaza Riviera. After Gaza’s demolition, technological cities could sprout from its ashes, with America’s tech behind the wheel. This will give America a newfound sovereignty from itself. From its old self. The subsequent anarchy of a crumbled Middle East will serve as a catalyst for unregulated evolution of technology, allowing the establishment of new kinds of systems unlike any we’ve seen before. Access to nearby oil will facilitate this process. Middle Eastern wealth is interested in AI and invests in Silicon Valley tech.
As various countries in the Middle East oppose this colonization, a growing justification will emerge for Techgaza’s expansion and retaliation against other countries’ retaliation. Many people will be erased like in early America. Hopefully not as extensively, but it looks pretty bad already.
Tech elites already focus on manipulating global culture in favor of these interests. Distaste for the religion and ideologies in those countries is part of that programing. Of course, that’s no new feud, but that’s exactly what makes it so useful. The religious rivalry and hatred stemming from differences in core moral ideologies gives the tech elites leverage that’s been historically ingrained. The ancient hate machine is ready for piloting.
Cyber-mediated political unrest and chaos will disable other countries, making it harder for tech to be challenged. Intelligent or valuable people will be poached from various countries and assimilated into the newly “free” and expanding Tech East. The chaos and distress of daily life will provide motivation for brain drain. Eventually, the collapsing West will be converted and merged into the rising global tech expansion. The people will want this after seeing how much better life is for the Tech East. It’s likely that lots of optics engineering will occur on the internet.
Tech elites probably exploit right-wing ideologies because the right are highly likely to oppose the destruction of tradition. It sounds paradoxical, but that’s why siding with them is so important. The right-wing is easier to shepherd. Religious opposition to the Middle East is highly valuable as well. Christian-Judeo alliance facilitates this. It’s an opportunity for power.
In America, the right-wing has been more radical and violent than the left. But now that’s changed (apparently). This is likely because the government promises to do the right’s bidding in trade for alliance and power. Meanwhile, tech powers like Palantir’s surveillance systems quietly merge with the government. The right accepts Palantir because it’s offering to help solve the issues that the right cares about, like getting involved with ICE.
Then, Palantir involves itself in targeting in Gaza. In fact, many tech companies involve themselves with Gaza. But Microsoft just pulled its tools from Israel because it was being used for mass surveillance on Palestinians. This denial of access could be an optics move in preparation for later. Tech’s involvement may go beyond just chasing mere direct profits, and into the pursuit of future Utopian projects if they expand to the Middle East. This is just an early investment to owning the world. A new location for the tech cocoon.
Tech may seem underpowered at the moment. Though, imagine if tech elites created systems like Palantir combined with LLMs and everyone’s private data from every bit on the internet, including private messages, all public posts, and the collective of human knowledge. Imagine being able to ask that private AI about yourself and discovering things about that you’d never considered because you seeded your soul as a point of data in the endless repeating patterns of behaviors recorded on the internet and correlated to anything and everything. Imagine being able to ask AI to tell your future like cyberpunk crystal ball.
Now, imagine that they’ve already done this off the record and use completely unregulated and personalized AI systems that have omniscient-level awareness of everyone’s personal information acquired through various surveillance strategies that go far beyond the words you’ve expressed online. Even the commoners pulled something off like this using Meta’s AI glasses tech. Now imagine the elite version. One with no bounds. Imagine that before meetings one could be debriefed on the other person’s incentives and desires so that it could be used to engineer the best outcome possible for oneself.
It’s a bit paranoid, but I do think something like that may already exist. If it doesn’t, it could easily become a reality if tech chases sovereignty from all regulation by moving to the East.
